New Class at Simply Scrapbooks

The new Inky Antics Honey pop holiday stamps arrived at Simply Scrapbooks this week and I used them to design my next class!

By request, I am going to list the Copic Marker colors that I used, but don't want you to feel obligated to purchase all of these in order to take the class.

Glass Pebble Magnets

Abby and I decided to get crafty tonight for our traditional Friday night "Girl's night" while Daddy golfs. Sometimes we go out to dinner and a movie with another mother/daughter team but tonight we stayed home and headed to the craft room.


She had received several craft kits for her birthday and we decided to open one up that makes glass gem magnets. The kit called for the glass gems to be painted but we thought stamped images would make much cuter magnets.

I remembered seeing a card made with Denami stamps and the glass pebbles on someone's blog a while back.


We gathered additional supplies:
Denami stamps
Ink
Scallop punches
Circle punches
Glass gems
magnet strips










Abby is always eager to play with my Copic Markers and loves how tiny and detailed the Denami stamps are. She even practiced the "flicking technique" to blend colors on a scrap paper tonight. She really wanted a multi colored surfboard on one stamp.

She did a really nice job coloring
and
picking papers to match her backgounds.



The assembly:
We used adhesive tape to attach the paper layers together.
Then we used a Tombow glue stick to attach a small piece of chip board to the back to add some stability.
To attach the pebble, I placed a small amount of diamond glaze to the flat side and placed it on top of the colored stamped image.

Announcing my new Etsy Store!

I spent the afternoon setting up my new Etsy store.

Unfamiliar with Etsy? It's kind of like Ebay for handmade items and craft supplies but there isnt any bidding. Every item has a "buy it now" price.

So far I have uploaded 35 cards with more on the way. Stop by often, I will be adding new cards as soon as they are completed.

Hot Enough for ya?

Happy First Day of July!


Sounds like it's gonna be a scorcher, as July usually is. But that's okay, as long as it doesn't rain, I dont care how hot it is. Any days of rain, means the installation of our pool will be delayed..yes, a pool! My hubby agreed, after much fuss from a cute little 7 year old and her mom, to let us put a pool in the back yard. I don't think I would have begged quite so much had I known how much work the preparation was going to be....electrical permits, fence permits, pool permits, sand delivery, fencing the back yard...I don't recall seeing any "help wanted" signs for a pool boy though.
I made the card pictured above using a bugaboo digital stamp but didn't like the saying that he came with. I think it was something like "At my age, you can wear anything you want". I searched online for a good saying but wasn't coming up with anything worthy of Gus. I was toying with "I'm bringing Sexy back" and even enlisted the help of my facebook friends. They came up with some cute ones but I ended up using "Hot enough for you?" so it could apply to Gus or the weather.


I used this image on a Father's Day card for Steve, since we ordered the pool the day before.

The Countdown is on...

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II is only about 2 weeks away...okay 2 weeks and 1 day away. My crazy husband wants to get tickets to the midnight showing at I'm not sure that Abby would make it.

I made this bookmark for my grandma who has been visiting from PA. She had never read any of the Harry Potter books before and has spent a lot of time over the past month reading them and watching the movies. I think she has 2 more books to go before the new movie debuts.

Bugaboo had a terrific sale on their digi images last month (50% off) so I bought everything that had been on my wishlist, which included this cute little Hagrid image. They have all of the other characters from Harry Potter but Hagrid was the best one.

I used a makeup puff with my ink pad to dirty up the background of the green and brown paper. Don't forget the back side when you are making a bookmark. I used Copics to color Hagrid and colored pencils and gamsol to shade him in.

when I finished coloring and went to place the image onto the bookmark, the white cardstock was so screaming white that I had to do SOMETHING! I used a brown colored pencil and went around the entire image and blended it outward with the Gamsol.

As a final touch, I added a piece of ribbon. Hope Grandma likes it!

OMG...this saying is great!

Hang on to your choppers! This card is awesome! Our little old ladies are sure to bring about a fit of laughter with the conclusion of the story. "when I blew out the candles....my dang teeth flew out and landed in the cake".

Stella is back with more birthday greetings! Bugaboo stamps offers the stamped image of our dear Stella but I made up the saying on my computer. I know I've seen the saying in the past and thought it went perfect with this stamp. The card design in sweet and simple. Great card to duplicate by the masses for all of your friends!

Gift Cards Galore

My coworker was getting married so our office decided to go with a group gift that consisted of a bunch of gift cards. I hate handing someone an envelope as a gift, even if the card inside is handmade. It still seems so impersonal. I didnt know exactly what I would come up with but offered to find a more creative way to present our gift.

I thought a "tree" of some sort would work. I originaly thought of finding some branches and securing it in a pot of some kind. On the morning of the shower/picnic, I hadnt started working on anything and panic was setting in. I hopped in the car and headed out to the local craft stores. etc. I decided to go into Pier 1 and see what they had to offer. On the easter clearance table, I saw this sparkly little tree and decided I would work around it's mint green color. Wish it was black or white, but I din't have the time to be picky.

It was a couples shower so I opted for 2 different types of gift card holders. I used a monogram stamp set from Just Rite stamps for one set:



For the other set, I punched out 2 2" scalloped circles and ran them through my cuttlebug with a swirly embossing folder for texture. then I folded the sides of the circles back to form a more triangular shape. I placed them tip to tip and overlapped a little, then fished with a small piece of ribbon and a punched flower with a pearl center.


I finished my gift card tree with a mere 30 minutes to spare by tying the gift card holders onto the tree with ribbons.

Old Glory Medallion class

Old Glory Medallion class in patriotic red, white, and blue will be on Sunday, June 26th at 1:30 pm. Cost is $15.
